Deep Tissue Massage

Deep tissue massage is a type of massage therapy that focuses on realigning deeper layers of muscles and connective tissue. It is especially helpful for chronic aches and pains, and can be beneficial for:

  • Relieving pain and stiffness in the muscles and joints
  • Breaking up scar tissue and adhesions
  • Improving range of motion and flexibility
  • Reducing inflammation and swelling
  • Helping with muscle recovery after injury or physical activity

Deep Tissue Massage

Here are some common techniques used in deep tissue massage:

  1. Slow Strokes: Long, flowing strokes with deep pressure to warm up the muscles and connective tissue.
  2. Deep Finger Pressure: Applying pressure with the fingertips or knuckles to specific areas of tension.
  3. Friction: Rubbing or grinding with the fingers or palm to break up adhesions and scar tissue.
  4. Kneading: Using the fingers or palms to apply deep pressure and stretch the muscles.
  5. Trigger Point Therapy: Applying pressure to specific areas to release tension in the muscles and connective tissue.
  6. Muscle Energy: Using the client's own muscle contractions to release tension and improve range of motion.
  7. Myofascial Release: Gentle, sustained pressure to release tension in the connective tissue surrounding muscles.
  8. Soft Tissue Release: Using tools or the fingers to release tension in the muscles and connective tissue.
  9. Deep Transverse Friction: Applying deep pressure across the grain of the muscles to break up adhesions and scar tissue.
  10. Petrissage: Kneading and rolling the muscles to release tension and improve circulation.
